Winter Bridge

Posted by
Jypyä Pop (Turku, Finland) on 16 January 2012 in Lifestyle & Culture and Portfolio.

In January 2011, was the River Aura is so thick that could no longer operate. When built in the river on the ice that bridge, along which the river can be exceeded. Föri is this photo from appearing on the right. Föri can see the picture from yesterday. Fun, as opposed to private, I could mention that the old way of thinking, the plot is a river on one side and the image view, on the other side are thus being on this side. The phrase is based on the fact that the Turku Cathedral is east of the river, that is, from this view, there on the other side. Simple as that?

16 Jan 2012 7:36am

@Ronnie 2¢: When the frost has been long enough, it is possible. Walking the River Aura on the ice hard cold winters in Turku is a traditional winter theme. On sunny days, the tan almost more than yimarannalla summer.

16 Jan 2012 3:51pm

@Adela Fonts: That picture is the last winter. It was a long hard frost, and the bridge was built. Now there is no bridge because the river is not thick enough.

Lydia.Dd from de partout et de nulle part, France

I'm pleased to see how everybody lives in other countries , I can't imagine to live here ! so cold !!

16 Jan 2012 6:33pm

@Lydia.Dd: There's always been so terribly cold. Little frost is actually a stimulant. The worst part is when the sky is a thick cloud, rain and sleet, and everywhere there is a wet snow. This winter is much ollu tullaisia weather, but last winter was a long cold spell. .

ursulakatariina from Leixlip, Ireland

There isn't much scarier things in this world than that bridge. And that is wider than it was when I was a kid, isn't it?
Great shot.

16 Jan 2012 6:56pm

@ursulakatariina: When you were a child, was similar to the bridge, sometimes the current theater of the bridge case. In some winters, the river was on the ice skating rink, the so-called. Pekanpaana. I do not remember that their pelottavuudesta would be talked about, but I guess they were a little exciting.

The Mouse from Glasgow, United Kingdom

I will have to come to Finland one winter to see these great sights.

16 Jan 2012 8:47pm

@The Mouse: It is good idea. Whenever in this region is not very severe winter, but can be found in the north frost and snow. Now it's been a few days frost and shallow waters have begun to freeze. There are only a few days the matter, when people start to go ice fishing hole. Every now and then someone falls through the ice. Somebody get up, someone can not reach. The river is ice blue, but still did not have to build a bridge to that, because Föri has been able to go.
