Winter morning on the river.

Posted by Jypyä Pop (Turku, Finland) on 16 February 2012 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

On Wednesday, the bridge was opened on the ice, along which the river can exceed the foot safely. It is enabled to go to the middle of the river to look at the prospects of the morning. The picture is closest to the ship, Famnen has participated in the Normandy landing. Today it is a cruise available. Further back will ship with a command bridge is shown dimly name of Ukko-Pekka. It makes summer cruises, inter alia, to Naantali. It is the only steamer, which has scheduled passenger transport.

Hello everybody. It is fine that You will see my pictures. I do not know English very well. Therefore, it may be some comments or answers seem strange. I'm trying to learn more. Thank you for your understanding.

Wow, looks soooo cold.
Did they set the ice bridge yesterday as they promised in Mondays paper?

@ursulakatariina: Fortunately, just seems a little cool. Yesterday, it became a bridge for use, and therefore had to go a little to look at the scenery from the river.

Evelyne Dubos from Le Mans, France

Impressive view on this ice-cold river. Ships have to wait a moment to navigate again !

16 Feb 2012 8:33am

@Evelyne Dubos: Those ships are during the summer usually pretty busy. People want to get to sea for a while and these ships are a great help.

Doug from Burnham-on-Sea, United Kingdom

Must be amazing to stand on the ice in the middle of such a big river. An you give us an interesting history with this great view too.

16 Feb 2012 9:46am

@Doug: Can walk on the river, it is constructed as a bridge. Many of the other parts of the moving ice, but it is not entirely safe, since the ice may be the weak points of the flowing water. Thank you for your interest
