Posted by
Jypyä Pop (Turku, Finland) on 9 December 2015 in Cityscape & Urban and Portfolio.

By yesterday's close, and the previous day's pictures have been taken Rapids within, which is of this we distance of about two kilometers. This image is near the place where the Aura River flows into the sea. Strong winds have increased to higher than normal sea water, and it is best seen in a ferry pontoon.

The boat is painted blue and red, very lovely !

9 Dec 2015 10:59am

@Hiro: This river ferry is one of the attractions of Turku. It was built about a hundred years ago. It passed through the first steam-powered, but later it was placed in a diesel engine. In the future, a full installation of the electric motor.

Ruthiebear from Titusville, NJ, United States

I like the colorful ferry. We have a pontoon boat which we use on the river we live on, but it is not so full of color

9 Dec 2015 6:34pm

@Ruthiebear: This ferry "Föri" is Turku's "pet". It has been transporting people across the river Aura for over a hundred years. It is the redesigned, but the same ferry it still is.

The colors of the winter...

9 Dec 2015 6:58pm

@Olivier: I agree. This winter needs it.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

The water looks high and a bit muddy. The bright colors of the ferry pop nicely.

9 Dec 2015 7:25pm

@Steve Rice: The river brings with it all kinds. At high tide the sea water rises, so that the river seems the sometimes flowing upstream. Ferry always maintained in September - October the turn of time. Therefore, it is in good condition säiyy the sidelines.
